Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By using BHKi services, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old (or have parental consent) and agree to abide by these Terms of Service and our Code of Conduct.

2. The "Open Science" Spirit

BHKi is a grassroots community.

• Collaboration: We encourage sharing code, workflows, and data.
• Intellectual Property: Unless otherwise stated, any educational materials provided by BHKi are licensed under Creative Commons (CC BY 4.0). You are free to share and adapt them, provided you give appropriate credit.
• User Contributions: If you share code or research during a BHKi session, you retain ownership, but you grant BHKi a non-exclusive license to use that content for community educational purposes.

3. Prohibited Conduct

To keep our "Silicon Savannah" safe, you agree not to:

• Upload malicious code, viruses, or "broken" scripts intended to disrupt our platforms.
• Use BHKi resources for unauthorized commercial data mining.
• Harass, bully, or discriminate against other members. (See our Code of Conduct for our zero-tolerance policy).
• Misrepresent your affiliation with BHKi or other partner institutions through BHKi.

4. No Professional Advice (The "Science is Hard" Clause)

The data analysis, code snippets, and mentorship provided through BHKi are for educational and research purposes only.

We do not guarantee that your code will run perfectly on the first try (though we'll help you debug it!).

BHKi is not liable for any research errors, data loss, or "bio-fumes" resulting from the application of shared techniques.

5. Privacy & Data Protection

We respect your digital DNA.

• We collect minimal data (name, email, research interests) to manage membership.
• We will never sell your data to third parties.
• Our practices align with the Kenya Data Protection Act (2019).

6. Limitation of Liability

BHKi provides all services on an "as-is" basis. To the maximum extent permitted by Kenyan law, BHKi shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages resulting from your participation in the community.

7. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or "unplug" your access to BHKi platforms if these terms or our community values are significantly breached.

8. Governing Law

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Kenya.

9. Changes to Terms

Like a living organism, these terms may evolve. We reserve the right to alter them at any point. We will notify members of significant changes via email or our community channels.
